Meditation and Stories of Mahamudra Lineage Masters

Sat., March 28, 2026
12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Nalandabodhi NY at Balance Art Center

Please join us for this continuation of our Saturday sessions – we will have meditation practice and read from stories of the Mahamudra lineage masters, both men and women.

Mahamudra, or the “Great Seal,” is a core Buddhist meditation tradition focused on realizing the true nature of mind as empty, clear, and compassionate. This profound path is often illuminated by the stories and teachings of its lineage masters, who represent the “golden garland” of transmission from India to Tibet.

Mahamudra teachings are presented as a simple path accessible for modern meditation practitioners, emphasizing bringing this genuine, relaxed awareness into all aspects of daily life.

The wisdom of Mahamudra is preserved and transmitted through a lineage of accomplished masters, whose life stories often exemplify the direct, non-conceptual nature of the path. The dohas (or songs of realization) of Mahamudra masters are spontaneous spiritual poems that express profound insights into the nature of mind and reality.

The Mahamudra tradition traces back to wandering, unconventional adepts (mahāsiddhas) from ancient India and Tibet. Their lives are characterized by both spiritual accomplishment and behavior that broke with convention.

Registration is free, offerings and volunteer support are welcome.
