We are happy to announce that Rochelle Weithorn will be our special guest for Tara practice on Dec 6. She will give a talk on Tara and her 21 emanations, as well as show and discuss Tara’s ritual implements. We hope you can join us for this special event followed by an abbreviated version of the Tara practice.

The practice of Green Tara can help overcome fear and anxiety, enabling one to open up to one’s own heart of compassion. The practice consists of visualizations, songs, and prayers, composed by Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche and Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche.

Nalandabodhi New York holds Tara practice sessions every other Wednesday from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm. This practice is open to all practitioners.

“Not only is supplicating Arya Tara beneficial for clearing away immediate obstacles for individuals who have entered the paths to liberation and omniscience; supplicating Arya Tara helps to clear away all hindrances and obstacles related to achieving the ultimate goals. If you are a person who has entered and is practicing the path, then supplicating Arya Tara helps dispel all obstacles you are facing that get in the way of making your practice fruitional. Arya Tara also clears away obstacles of all those with whom we have connections, our friends, our relatives, our partners and so on, anyone for whom we wish that they be free of illness, negative spirits, and other obstacles. When you supplicate Arya Tara you will receive her blessing.”

 - Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche

In 1975 Rochelle Weithorn came to the in-depth study of Tibetan Buddhism and meditation after meeting her teacher, the profound meditation master, the Vidyadhara Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. She subsequently studied Dharma Art at Naropa University, laying the foundation for her work as a visual artist and writer. In 2001 Rochelle founded the Milarepa Children’s Theater and Chorus, a not-for-profit company under the auspices of the great yogi and meditation master, Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche. She has written three plays about the life of the Buddha which were performed by the children, teens, and young adults of the Buddhist Council of New York and Diki Tibetan Sunday School in Astoria, NY as well as “Tara and Her Twenty-one Emanations” performed by the students of Diki Tibetan Summer Camp in Queens, NY on August 25, 2017.
