An Introduction to the mahamudra teachings in Milarepa: Lessons from the Life and Songs of Tibet’s Great Yogi, by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche

Friday, April 13, 7:00-9:00 pm
Sat-Sun, April 14-15, 10:00 am-4:00 pm

In this workshop we will explore the mahamudra teachings, as presented by Chögyam Trungpa in his book on Milarepa. Trungpa Rinpoche emphasized that, although Milarepa lived many centuries ago and had a lifestyle very different from most of us in the modern world, what he had to say was extremely relevant and helpful to contemporary practitioners. We will be focusing on Milarepa’s meditation instructions in the context of Trungpa Rinpoche’s background teachings on the mahamudra lineage and the challenges of introducing dharma in the west.

This workshop will include meditation practice, discussion, and talks. Open to all.

The mind is like the sky
And thoughts are like clouds.
The inspiration of the guru’s teaching is the wind
That clears the thoughts and doubts
And shows the nakedness of space.
One’s experiences and discoveries are like the different stars in the sky.
Milarepa, in the Song of Realization
