Lojong Practice Day

Sunday, March 3, 2019
10:00 am – 4:30 pm

Lojong or Mind Training contains the essence of the great Mahayana Buddhist teachings. These Seven Points of Mind Training are attributed to Atisha (980-1052), the great Indian Buddhist teacher who brought to Tibet this systemized approach to Bodhicitta. The Root Text of the Seven Points of Training the Mind is a list of fifty-nine slogans. These profound and penetrating slogans help to develop equanimity, compassion, lovingkindness and joy for others, as well as for ourselves. For more information, click here.

Book Club at Nalandabodhi New York
Sunday, March 17, 1:00-3:30 pm

Discussing a selected book in a friendly and supportive group setting helps to develop a deep understanding and familiarity with the material. The book we are discussing is No Time To Lose, A Timely Guide To The Way of the Bodhisattva by Pema Chodron. Pema Chodron guides us through The Way of the Bodhisattva, a classic Buddhist Mahayana text composed by Shantideva. The procedure of our book club is to rotate discussion leadership. We will begin with a period of meditation from 1:00-1:30 pm. This upcoming session, we will discuss part of chapter 4 (from verse 4.16 to the end of chapter 4) and chapter 5. Future club meeting dates and chapter readings will be determined at each session, roughly once a month. Drop-ins are welcome. Suggested donation is $5.00. We look forward to seeing you!
