Shamatha Practice and Open House

9:00 am - 12:00 pm

“In shamatha meditation, we develop a quality of knowing oneself. We discover rich and powerful qualities of mind.”
Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, Knowing Oneself

Nalandabodhi New York is now offering Shamatha Practice and Open House on Sunday mornings from 9am  to 12pm. Please join us and enjoy the benefits of group practice, dharma talks, and open discussion. Light snacks and tea will be served. This is an open format so come for the whole session or only a part.

All are welcome – members and non-members, any level of practice!

“Shamatha” translates as calm abiding or tranquility meditation. It is one of the most profound, time-tested techniques we have for working with our minds in order to gain greater clarity and balance. Periods of sitting meditation will alternate with walking meditation. Guided meditation and instruction  is available.

This Sunday’s dharma talk and discussion will be led by Dennis Hunter. Dennis is a founding member of Nalandabodhi New York and is a student of Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche. He also lived for two years as a temporary Buddhist monk at Gampo Abbey, where he studied with Pema Chodron. He helped to edit Rinpoche’s book “Rebel Buddha,” and writes a popular spiritual blog called One Human Journey.

Please consider joining us at our upcoming practice events as we get to know our minds and wake up to our true nature.
